We woke early and packed up the vans. We stopped off at Cave Rock for a quick, but super fun surf before hitting the road for the Transkei!
The stories that Pottz was spreading about the old South Africa had spooked the guys a lot! I decided to show them how friendly the people in the Transkei were and waved hello to a group of locals as we drove past. Immediately everyone on the side of the road had huge smiles and waved enthusiastically back at us.
The guys in my car couldn't believe how friendly the locals were and for the next 30 minutes we're greeting everyone we passed. They said that i they waved at a stranger in the USA they'd probably get given the finger!
It was a long drive through some very remote and beautiful places on some pretty rough roads. The drive took way longer than expected and we ended up still on the road after sunset which really made some of the guys pretty nervous.
When we eventually arrived at our destination in Coffee Bay everyone was so excited and told me that for the first time they felt like they were in the REAL Africa!
We had missed dinner so we drove to a nearby hotel and bribed them to make us some food. We hung out there for a while playing pool but everyone was exhausted from the day of driving so we returned to our camp and got some rest.
